Obedience to God-What it Looks Like to Me

After yesterday shows I really started to think about being obedient on a daily basis. It had been on my mind before but I wasn't sure what it looked like. After speaking with Brother Brandt, I think it looks something like this. At least to me.

Make sure you read your bible. Daily. Not once in awhile or when you think you have time. But make it a priority. Read it daily. Have quiet alone time with God. This can be anywhere. You can be at the ballpark and sitting on the bench praising God and having a conversation with Him. It doesn't have to be at night or when all is quiet.

Turn away from sin. None of us are free of it but when we know what we are choosing to do is sinful we need to make a conscious effort to turn away from that sin. We also need to remember to repent for our sins. If you can't think of a way that you sinned on a day ask God to show you so you can work on it.

Be thankful for everyday that you have on this earth. Our time is limited and we need to remember that. Don't worry about tomorrow or the next day but take it one day at a time and enjoy the laughing of your children or that your spouse is home at the end of the day. If you spouse is deployed rejoice that no matter where you are in your deployment journey you are one day closer to him being home.

I think lastly we can't forget to spread God's word. For some of us this is easy and for others like myself it's a little harder. It's hard to put yourself out there. Especially if you think you might be challenged and don't think you have the right words to say. Remember that God will not leave you. He didn't bring you to it to leave you. If He brought you to it He will lead you through it.
